Speaking of Tucumcari… sporadic, with baseball sized hail. Thanks to Jay for the photo.

Time now for the five things you need to know before you go on this Tuesday!

5) Are you taking a sip of some joe to get you going this morning? Here’s some good news it’s about to get cheaper! Columbia had a great coffee crop this so there are a lot of beans to go around. We’ll start to see the lower prices in a week.

4) Get out an enjoy today! Today will partly sunny, with a high near 62 and a light variable wind becoming Northwest 10 to 15 mph in the morning. Then tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low around 39, and a Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph.

3) The search is now on for a new Police Chief for Albuquerque. We talked with Ray Schultz yesterday and he told us he’s going to retire this summer. It has nothing to do with the Department of Justice’s Investigation into his Department. We also talked with the Mayor who says he won’t appoint a permanent Chief unless he’s re-elected in October.

2) It’s official. Jorge Bergoglio is now Pope Francis I. He started his ministry over 1.2 billion Catholics all across the world. Tens of thousands of people packed St. Peters Square to see the Pope’s Inauguration Mass. That includes New Mexico Governor Susanna Martinez.

1) It’s all about the Lobos! The guys are off to Salt Lake City today. On Thursday they’ll take on the Harvard Crimson. You can be there too! Plane tickets start at $330 bucks round trip and even though UNM is out of seats for the game, you can get them online for about $90 bucks.

Time now for the five things you need to know before you go!

5) Governor Martinez is in Rome waiting for the installation of Pope Francis I tomorrow. She is there with the Presidential Delegation. Her office says she plans to meet with Vice President Biden and talk about the future of New Mexico’s National Labs while in Rome.

4) Albuquerque Police are investigating an overnight shooting that sent one police officer to the hospital. It happened around 10:30 last night in Southeast Albuquerque. Police say they are looking for two black males who were seen in the area. The officer involved underwent emergency surgery and is expected to be okay.

3) The Albuquerque Police Chief Ray Schultz and Mayor RJ Berry are set to meet today. The two are set to discuss Schultz’s retirement and the future of APD. On Friday, Schultz announced he will soon retire.

2) A breezy day today! Today will be sunny and windy with a high near 68. Then tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low around 39 and a Northwest wind 15 to 20 mph decreasing to 5 to 10 mph after midnight.

1) If you haven’t heard yet. The Men’s Lobos were picked as a number three seed to take on Harvard– who is the number 14 seed in Salt Lake City, Utah this Thursday. For info on the tickets to see that game just visit our website and look under “Newslinks.”

Time now for the five things you need to know before you go!

5) Get your tickets now and you could be a multi-millionaire come Sunday. The Powerball Jackpot is up to $216-million smackers or $132.8-million in cash before taxes. The drawing is on Sunday good luck!

4) Let’s hear it for the Lobos! Both the woman and men take on San Diego State today in Vegas. If they win, they’ll make it to the conference tournament championship games. Watch the guys tonight at 7 on the CBS Sports Network then check out Van Tate’s highlights later.

3) Should Albuquerque get a new Police Chief? That’s what the President of the City Council says should happen. The Albuquerque Journal is reporting Dan Lewis says Chief Ray Schultz’s reputation is tarnished while the Chief says he’s proud of the department.

2) All eyes on a courtroom in Albuquerque today because the jury now has the civil case of a cop who shot and killed an Iraq War Veteran three years ago. That jury will decide how much money the police department owes Kenneth Ellis’s family and a few other things. Detective Brett Lampiris-Tremba shot and killed Ellis back in 2010 when Ellis had a gun to his own head.

1) Break out the shorts and flip flops! Today will be sunny, with a high near 76, and a light west wind blowing 10 to 15 mph in the morning. Then tonight will be mostly clear, with a low around 48 and a west wind 10 to 15 mph becoming light and variable after midnight.

Time now for the five things you need to know before you go!

5) This is getting a lot of national attention. New York City fans of giant cups full of some sugary soft drinks can still feed their craving…at least for today. A judge struck down the 16-ounce size limit for sodas and some other sweet drinks, but Mayor Michael Bloomberg is still defending his idea.

4) How did a cat from Germany end up in New Mexico? The female Persian Seal Point cat was found Saturday morning in Las Cruces– but her microchip shows that she’s actually registered to an Air Force Base in Germany. The Animal Service Center hopes someone knows who she belongs to. They think it could be someone who recently moved from Germany to Las Cruces.

3) If you liked yesterday’s weather, then you’ll love today! It’ll be warm today with a sunny high near 62 and a light variable wind becoming West 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Then tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low around 35, and a Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

2) Anytime now…we could know who the next Pope’s going to be. The Cardinals have started their secret conclave at the Vatican…and as soon as two-thirds of them agree on the next Pope…we’ll see the white smoke and know who’ll lead the Catholic Church. It’ll most likely them a few days to pick someone.

1) Here we go again. The Detective who shot and killed an Iraq War Veteran in Albuquerque three years ago, is set to be back on the stand in just a few hours. Yesterday, Brett Lampiris-Tremba testified he shot and killed Kenneth Ellis because Ellis was twitchy and moved toward another officer. At the time, Ellis had PTSD, was on the phone with his mom, and had a gun to his own head. A judge already ruled the shooting violated Ellis’s Constitutional Rights. Now, the jury will decide how much it’ll cost the city and some other things. We’ll be in court today and let you know what happens.
