Word of Tim Russert's death today came as shocking news. Russert was just 58 when he collapsed this morning while recording voiceovers for Sunday's edition of NBC's "Meet the Press." Practically everyone in the Newsplex has been shocked upon hearing the news. I have a television on my desk and, soon after hearing about Russert's death from the news director, Michelle, I kept an eye on the broadcast networks so I could get color for the report from the big names in journalism. Drinking In the Candidates

Thirsting for more politics? Want to drink in your favorite candidate's best qualities? Or, do you just have some money to spend? Jones Soda, the company known for its, shall we say, quirky flavors (the sodas of Thanksgiving, for example), is back with a political gimmick. Now, the company is selling three colas - one for each of the three candidates still in the presidential race. (Technically, Hillary Clinton hasn't dropped out.) The Empty Ballot Box and Other Small Problems

So what if you held an election and nobody showed up? That apparently happened for one precinct in Albuquerque. Officials told us that they downloaded the results from Precinct 257's cartridge, which stored the results, but discovered that nobody voted there. That precinct was supposed to cast ballots at Kirtland Elementary School on Kirtland Air Force Base. Only a couple of other problems were reported with this count, making it one of the smoothest elections I've seen in quite a while.
