Good Morning!

We are starting off once again with extremely cold temperatures across the state this morning. Some are also experiencing rough driving conditions due to freezing fog over night. Please use extreme caution if/when you venture out on the roadways this morning!

A warming trend will continue through this afternoon and we will see plenty of sunshine. This pattern will stay in place to begin the work week but our next winter storm is on the way and looks to make an appearance by Tues-Wed. Many of us will not see any activity from this storm, as it looks to pass to the south of us. The southern mountains may see snow accumulation and rain/wintry mix may be expected for the lower elevations.

The system will quickly move out and leave us with pleasant conditions until the end of the week!

Temperatures this morning are extremely cold once again and we are even seeing a Freezing Fog Advisory in effect for the SE corner of NM. A slight warming trend will begin by this afternoon and will continue through most of next week! Expect plenty of sunshine for the next few days with breezy conditions at times.

Another wintry storm will approach the state next week but looks to pass a little to the south. As of now, we will see slight chances of rain and snow for the northern half of the state and better chances for the southern half.

Be safe and have a fantastic weekend!!

Good Sunday Morning!

Our New Year’s winter storm is still on the move and looks to arrive later today through tomorrow. Expect cloudy and mild conditions with highs reaching the 40′s in the Metro. Moisture will continue to increase throughout the day, followed by developing showers in the northern and western parts of NM.

Snow will begin by this afternoon and evening, spreading east overnight. The high elevations will see decent accumulation, while the lower elevations may see just a dusting to about 1 inch. There is currently a Winter Storm Warning in effect for the San Juan Mountains where snow accumulations of 6-10 inches will be possible.

Please keep road conditions in mind as you head out for New Year’s celebrations!!

Have a happy New Year!

It is COLD outside this morning with wind chill factors falling to the single and negative digits in some places. Temperatures will remain chilly throughout our Saturday, with highs only reaching the upper 30′s in the Metro. The rest of our weekend will be chilly but beautiful with mostly sunny skies and a light breeze.

The next winter storm system that we are tracking looks to be making an appearance by late Sunday through Monday, New Year’s Eve. This system will bring another round of shower chances, wind and cold temperatures. Afternoon highs will remain 10-20 degrees below normal for the middle of the upcoming week.

Stay tuned for updates as the storm moves closer!

We continue to watch snow move through the northern half of the state this evening and into tonight. An upper level storm system will track to the east overnight and into Christmas morning, bringing rain/snow chances, bitter cold and high winds. Expect the wind chill factor to be intense tonight and into tomorrow morning. Temperatures will feel much colder than they really are. The most snow accumulation will be seen on the western slopes and high peaks of the Northern Mountains. Please keep in mind, when traveling, that roadways may become slick. Use extreme caution!!

We will see the snow move out of the area by tomorrow, leaving mostly clear skies and chilly temps behind. A back door cold front will bring a slight chance of showers to the NE corner of NM but widespread activity is not expected.

Our next wintry system should impact the area later this week.

Have a wonderful and safe Christmas!!

Good Morning!

On this Sunday, we continue to track our next winter storm system. Light snow showers have begun for parts of southern CO and as the storm gets closer, chances will spread to northern NM. Expect the remainder of our weekend to be mild and breezy with a mix of sun and clouds.

Overnight tonight, more cloud cover will move in and some showers will be possible, mainly NW. We will see showers spread east through Monday as the storm passes by and temperatures will drop after the associated front moves through. Also, expect windy conditions, especially for the central and southern parts of the state.

Slight snow chances will stay with us through our Christmas Day, followed by clearing and very cool temperatures.

Have a great day!

Good Saturday Morning!

As of yesterday (12/21), winter is officially here. While it definitely feels like winter in the morning hours, the afternoons for the next couple of days will continue to be fairly mild. High pressure which has been present for the last couple of days is now sliding east, allowing more cloud cover to stream into the state.

After our mild weekend, our next winter storm looks to impact the area by Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. This next system will bring more rain, snow, wind and colder temperatures but for now, looks to just skim the area. We have slight chances of snow for places like Albuquerque and better chances for the northern parts of the state and CO.

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Good Wednesday Morning!

Our next winter storm system is moving through today, bringing rain, snow and extreme winds to the state. We currently have widespread warnings and advisories in effect for both the wintry weather and this afternoon’s wind speeds. As the associated cold front moves through, expect cold temperatures and gusts up to 70mph at times. Rain and snow showers will continue passing to the ENE through the rest of the day as well.

Please use extreme caution on the roadways today, especially in the western and northwestern areas of the state. Roads are already snow packed and icy, and with the extreme winds, reduced visibility due to blowing snow will be possible.

This storm will clear out and the sunshine will return by Thursday but the cold temperatures will linger for the next few days.

Be safe and have a wonderful Wednesday!!

It’s really starting to look a lot like Christmas for many parts of the State!
In the Albuquerque area, you can expect to see blowing snow and scattered snow showers with partly sunny skies. The high will only be near 37-degrees. New snow accumulation of less than one inch is possible.
Then tonight will be partly cloudy, with a freezing low around 12-degrees and a Northwest wind 15 to 20 miles-per-hour decreasing to 5 to 10 miles-per-hour after midnight.
