Female members at Augusta National Golf Club?

The debate is heating up again about letting women become members of the famous Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia.

Computer giant IBM, a big sponsor of the tournament has chosen a woman to be it’s chief executive, a post held so far by men and the last four were members of the club.

So now people are wondering if IBM’s new head, Virginia Rometty will be offered a membership and if it will press the issue.

Hospital bans obese job applicants

A Texas hospital is no longer hiring people who are obese. The Citizens Medical Center in Victoria, TX requires all potential employees to have a body mass index of less than 35, according to its CEO.

The figure translates to a weight of 210lbs for someone who is 5ft 5in, and ensures employees fit with a ‘specific mental projection of the job of a healthcare professional’, the hospital chief, David Brown, said.

School takes child’s sack lunch saying it was unhealthy

A North Carolina school is under fire after a state health inspector allegedly made a child eat a school lunch of chicken nuggets instead of her sack lunch because hers didn’t meet state health guidelines.

The girls grandmother says the sack lunch consisted of a turkey and cheese sandwich on white bread, potato chips, a banana and apple juice.

A school spokesperson says while the lunch was healthy, it was missing milk, a key part of what is considered to be a healthy meal. The spokesperson went on to say that the inspector should have simply offered the child milk instead of a replacement meal, but says its part of policy to make sure children have healthy food options.
