In September, the first Rock and Rhythm Youth Orchestra for highly motivated high school students will launch at South Broadway Cultural Center.

The program is seeking high school students who love music and are looking for an exciting, non-traditional collaborative musical experience.

The 10-week program offers them the opportunity to improve on their musical skills and experience what it’s like to play in a band.

The program is open to all high school string players and rock band musicians. Those who play violin, viola, cello, upright bass, guitar, electric bass, keyboards, and drums may apply, as well as vocalists.

Interested students must sign up for interviews that begin the first week in September. While some musical talent and experience is valued, the right attitude and motivation to play music is an important factor.
