Drier for the Weekend

August 22nd, 2014 at 3:03 pm by under Weather

Most of New Mexico benefited from persistent, light, and steady rainfall during the day Friday. Showers will continue in the far northern and eastern parts of the state into early Saturday. As the storm system departs, drier air will work into most of the state overnight leading to a quiet weekend. As the state dries out, temperatures will warm up. By Sunday, Albuquerque will be near 90° while parts of the south and east soar to the upper 90s.

The heat will be short lived. Early next week, a southerly moisture tap returns to New Mexico, allowing for better rounds of scattered storms across the state. Temperatures will also drop by 5° – 10°. The moisture continues to fuel storms through about midweek. The state dries back out by next Thursday and Friday.
