Scattered Storms Continue…

August 7th, 2014 at 10:08 pm by under Weather

We actually had a better storm crop today than it looked like we would 24 hours ago. A week weather disturbance along with some moisture at the surface combined for widespread storms over Central and Eastern New Mexico through the evening hours. The storms came close to Albuquerque but never delivered any significant rain.  However, thick cloud cover did help to keep temperatures down in the 70s today. Tomorrow storms and cloud cover won’t be quite as easy to find with isolated storms over the higher terrain.

This weekend southerly flow will help to fuel thunderstorm from time to time. Once again the favored areas will be the mountains and adjacent valleys. Below is a look at the seven-day precipitation forecast. As you can tell it’s really not all that impressive for this time year.

    Hi Mark,
I live in Roswell and we don’t get much weather or news. Is there a reason why you just skim over our weather so fast that I have to pause the weather so I can see what is going on? Also, thankfully it is raining here now.

    Sincerely,
    Martha Perry
