NM State Fair National Anthem Auditions

Francis Scott Key was inspired to write the “Star Spangled Banner” in September, 1814, and 200 years later singers will audition to sing the
anthem at the 2014 New Mexico State Fair.

According to Summer Noelle Green, Event Coordinator for the State Fair, auditions will be held on Friday, August 8, from 6:30pm to 9:00pm in the African American Performing Arts Center Auditorium on the fairgrounds, enter at Gate 3 at San Pedro and Copper NE.

The auditions are open primarily to solo performers or small groups who can sing The Star Spangled Banner a cappella. Performers must know the words to the song from memory and are required to reserve an audition time in advance.

A committee of judges will select the winners who will each sing the National Anthem to kick off the nine rodeo Performances during this year’s State Fair.

The 76th annual New Mexico State Fair starts Wednesday, September 10th and runs through Sunday, September 21st.

To reserve an audition time, please call Summer at the Expo New Mexico Events Office at 505 222-9732 no later than Friday, August 1, 2014 at 5:00pm.
