Growing mural brings attention to seed preservationJuly 16th, 2014 at 5:00 pm by Chelo Rivera under Latest Posts
SEEDS: A Collective Voice began in 2013 as the first multi-media art exhibit in New Mexico to bring attention to ancient and organic seed preservation. In little over a year, it has blossomed into an international, multi-dimensional project that has been presented in Mexico and with extended relationships in Europe and across the US.
SEEDS organically grew into several branches including an ongoing arts-based educational program The Community Seed Mural Project and an upcoming book and documentary. During visits to schools, public events and institutions, participants work on the seed murals while experts from different fields lead discussions to raise awareness on several important related topics including seed preservation, organics, community nutrition and sustainability, and their connection to a healthy environment.
This Community Seed Mural Project program will include a hands-on “Seed by Color” mural creation with a discussion on the importance of Ancient seed preservation, led by Jade Leyva
The Community Seed Mural Project is a donation based project. All materials will be provided.
