More Rain Ahead…

A backdoor cold front continues to plow through Eastern New Mexico tonight. Even though this front is mainly touching off storms across East Central sections of the state it’s impact will be felt statewide. Moisture from the east will flow into the Rio Grande Valley overnights and fuel storms across the area on Tuesday.

Here in the Albuquerque metro area we’re likely to see some gusty east winds overnight. Then on Tuesday scattered to widespread thunderstorms will pop up with the heat of the day.

Wednesday looks very active as well for storms. There’s plenty of juice to support widespread wetting rains in much of New Mexico. By Thursday things to start to dry out a bit in the west. But we should still have plenty of moisture to support scattered storms especially east.

High pressure will build into the state Friday and into the weekend. The main impact of this will be to dry out the atmosphere and skyrocket temps.
