Storms Diminish This Weekend

Most of the thunderstorm activity through the afternoon has been over the higher terrain. Like the past couple of nights, we’ll have to watch the storms to our north for thunderstorm development in the Rio Grande Valley later this evening and tonight. There isn’t as much moisture to work with today, so storm development in the valley will depend on colliding gust fronts from other storms.

Storm coverage continues to decrease through the rest of the holiday weekend. The northern and western high terrain will continue to be favored for storm development. Afternoon highs through the weekend will stay near or just below average, making for a very comfortable weekend for this time of year!

The high sitting over the Four Corners finally slides east next week allowing a more traditional monsoon setup. Moisture will increase across the west on Monday, then shift into central sections Tuesday and Wednesday. Long range models keep the moisture around through at least next weekend!
