Bernalillo County offers free sand, bags for flash flooding prepJuly 4th, 2014 at 10:43 am by Chelo Rivera under Latest Posts
With the beginning of monsoon rains, Bernalillo County is reminding residents that sandbags can help to stop water from rushing into yards and onto property during flash-flooding.
“The Bernalillo County Fire Department knows how devastating flooding can be,” says Deputy Fire Chief Greg Perez. “Preparing ahead of time can make a huge difference in stopping fast-moving flash flood waters before any damage occurs”
BernCo Public Works is providing the sand and the Albuquerque Metropolitan Arroyo Flood Control Authority (AMAFCA) is providing the bags.
Residents will need to fill and transport their own bags.
