Temps Down, Moisture Up!June 30th, 2014 at 5:13 pm by John Smith under Weather
After an extremely hot afternoon with triple digit heat across much of the state, relief moves in tonight. A back door cold front will push into the northeast tonight and sweep across the eastern two-thirds of the state Tuesday. This will allow for more showers and storms across the east and a temperature drop of 10° – 15°. Gusty winds will also develop in the Albuquerque metro Tuesday as an east canyon wind develops.
A second source of moisture from the south moves into the west on Wednesday. That, combined with leftover moisture from the front will help kick off another round of scattered showers and storms across most of the state.
The moisture dwindles across the east by Thursday, while some moisture continues to fuels storms across the west. However, everyone starts to dry back out for the 4th of July holiday weekend. While temps will rebound some into the holiday weekend, they are not expected to skyrocket to the levels we saw this weekend and today.
