Time for the five things you need to know before you go this morning.

5. Don’t be alarmed if you see a whole lot of first responder activity in the metro area today. Twenty five local hospitals are practicing for disaster, so there’ll be drills going on all over the metro.

4. A couple of black eyes, one for New Mexico and the other for the metro area.

wallethub.com says  New Mexico drivers are among the worst in the nation. That’s because of deadly crashes, DWI and pedestrian and bicycle fatalities. Twitter says Albuquerque has a meth problem. The thinking is the words Albuquerque and meth come up so often because of the Breaking Bad, which was based here.

3. New Mexico’s governor’s race is getting more interesting. Democrat Gary King’s campaign manager quit over old posts on Twitter, making fun of overweight women. Governor Susana Martinez’s campaign is accused of putting words in a supporters mouth. A baker, who supports Martinez, says he never bashed Gary King like Martinez’s ads claim he did.

2. The Assayii fire continues to burn on the Navajo nation. People are gathering what they can before leaving their homes behind. Right now none of the fire is contained and it’s threatening about 50 homes.
