5. President Obama says air strikes are possible in Iraq, where the situation is growing more intense as the fighting gets worse. One-hundred United States Marines and soldiers are on their way to Iraq to help protect the American Embassy. An Islamic terrorist group claims it captured and killed almost two thousand Iraqi soldiers over the weekend, however the US doesn’t know if the claim is true.
4. Today the State of New Mexico is soliciting feedback about the medical marijuana program. There’s a massive medical pot shortage in New Mexico now, so the State is considering letting producers grow more, whole limiting the amount people with medical marijuana cards can grow.

3. Expect another packed Albuquerque City Council meeting tonight, as councilors discuss repairing the relationship between the Albuquerque Police Department and the community. Councilors are earmarking $150,000 to finance community meetings to get public input on how to fix the Department’s image problems. Councilors are also considering a program with Bernalillo County to help get mentally ill people off the streets.
2. A water main break on Second Street and Roma in Downtown Albuquerque caused a sinkhole that developed afterward. The area around these streets is a mess this morning, crews expect to have it repaired later today.

Tonight it’ll be partly cloudy, with a low around 58 and a 15 to 20 mph west wind becoming north 5 to 10 mph after midnight.
