Storms Today, Drier This WeekendJune 13th, 2014 at 11:07 am by John Smith under Weather
Today we’ll have chances at showers across much of the state. Left over moisture from the back door cold front that swept the east yesterday, combined with new moisture from the south will lead to scattered storms across much of the state this afternoon. The best chance of storms will be across the south, but there will be enough moisture for central sections like the Albuquerque metro to pick up a few storms. East of the central mountain chain, some storms could be severe.
Over the weekend, a drying trend takes hold. There will still be a chance for some isolated storms across the east, but most of the state will be dry. Winds and temperatures will also be increasing as we shift to a southwesterly flow. Fire weather concerns will also become an issue. The entire state will be hot, dry, and windy Sunday.
Our next opportunity for showers will arrive mid to late next week. There is a bit of disagreement in the models as to how much moisture the state will see and how soon that moisture will arrive.
