Some Storms, Then Dry

Today and Friday will be our best shot at showers and storms before things dry out over the weekend.

This afternoon a cold front will push through the east. This will provide moisture and lift for a few showers and storms to develop, especially across the northeast. Temperatures will also cool across the east. Friday storm chances shift to central New Mexico as southerly moisture gets drawn up. South central New Mexico will have the best shot at showers, but areas as far north as the metro could also see a few storms as well.

Over the weekend, a southwesterly flow will set up. This will dry the state back out. Temperatures will also warm back up, especially across the east. This will begin a multiple day stretch of dry, breezy, and hot weather that lasts until the middle of next week. Expect increased fired concerns for this period. Another cold front will move in mid to late week next week. This will give parts of the state another shot at more showers and storms and lower the fire danger.

The northeast is favored Thursday for showers and storms.
