Fire Trouble Ahead?June 12th, 2014 at 8:28 pm by Mark Ronchetti under Weather
Storms today were limited to northeastern New Mexico. One cell quickly reach severe levels near Springer. That storm dumped hail along the I 25 corridor and briefly slowed traffic. The rest of us saw partly to mostly sunny skies with highs touching 90°.
Our best chance for showers comes Friday with enough moisture in place to touch off scattered storms in central sections of the state. But even our best chance on Friday really isn’t all that great with most areas around Albuquerque only seeing a 10 to 20% chance of getting some storms.
Beginning Saturday the real concern shifts to the fire danger. Temperatures will continue to rise into the 80s and low 90s with wind gusts topping 40 miles an hour. With no strong storms and or moisture on the horizon it could be a rough go for the next 7 to 10 days fire wise.
