After Roswell broke a 24 hour rainfall record by picking up 4.39″ of rain and golf ball sized hail in Carlsbad, more strong storms are possible across New Mexico this afternoon.   It could be another active day across the state with Northern and Eastern New Mexico being favored for the most activity.   Some dry air may limit storms in central New Mexico, but places like Albuquerque and Santa Fe still have a shot for rain this afternoon and also on Sunday.

Here some things to remember during this active period of weather if you are heading out this weekend.

  • Do not drive across flooded roads, no matter how deep the water may look.
  • Do not walk through or play in flood waters
  • Stay out of the arroyos
  • Get indoors and away from windows if a strong thunderstorm rolls through
