Storm coverage for the east will be more widespread this afternoon. As more moisture continues to work into the east, the threat for some stronger storms across the east will be higher. Some storms could be severe with heavy rainfall, hail, and gusty winds. While most of the action will be east again today, a few spot storms will be possible in central sections.

Severe Thunderstorm Watches across the east until 7:00pm.

Central New Mexico will have a better shot at some showers and storms Friday as moisture works it’s way through the central mountain chain. Showers and storms become even more widespread Saturday as the storm sitting to our west finally crosses the state. The storm exits early Sunday leaving the higher terrain with the best chance of showers Sunday and Monday afternoon.

When everything is said and done, the east will see the most rainfall over the next several days. Parts of the east could pick up close to an inch between today and Sunday. Rainfall totals drop off the farther south and west you go.

The north and east will see the most rainfall through Saturday. While areas like Las Vegas will not likely see as much as the model projects here, over an inch is possible.
