Wet Days Ahead?

We are getting closer and closer to go time with our storm dropping toward New Mexico. The storm system which will impact the state over the holiday weekend is currently over Nevada. That storm will drop into Arizona over the next couple of days.  As this happens increasing moisture will Begin to work its way into eastern New Mexico. During the day Wednesday isolated strong thunderstorms will be possible in the eastern third of the state.

By Thursday moisture will continue to work it’s way westward toward the Albuquerque metro area where we could pick up an isolated thunderstorm.

By Friday the chance for storms continues across the state as a whole with the East seeing most of the action. At this point the storm will still be to our west. It will roll through the state by Saturday.  Currently the track looks like it will pass to the northern half of New Mexico spreading more steady rain.

Showers and storms continue into Sunday before the storm exits the state.  We should wrap up the holiday weekend with a drier set up on Monday. Take a look at the European model below. It projects up to 2 inches of rain across the east side of the state.  That would be incredible. Here in the metro will see much less rain than the east will but we still could pick up north of a half  inch.
