Fire Concerns to Start the WeekMay 19th, 2014 at 11:00 am by John Smith under Weather
The week will start warm, windy, and dry, leading to high fire danger. Red Flag Warnings have been posted across all of New Mexico and southwest Colorado. Fire concerns will continue through at least Wednesday as the warm, windy, and dry weather persists.
A storm sitting to the west will help draw in some moisture across the eastern plains by Thursday. Showers and storms will break out east of the central mountain chain, with some storms possibly becoming severe. As moisture continues to get pulled from the east, some will eventually work into central and western sections Friday and Saturday.
The storm to the west finally crosses the state Sunday into Monday. This will give most of the state opportunity for widespread showers and storms. As the storm crosses and more moisture works in, temperatures will also come down. After spending the first half of the week above average, temps will be near average by the weekend.
