Storm Brings Wind, Few Showers

A storm will edge near the state today. The northwest and northern mountains have small chances of seeing showers but the bigger story will definitely be the wind. Winds will gust 45 – 55 mph across most of the state this afternoon. This will lead to extreme fire weather conditions across most of the east. The northeast will be under critical fire weather conditions. Red Flag Warnings have been posted across much of the state again today.

A lingering spot shower or two will be possible across the north early Thursday. As the storm departs, the winds start to come down and cooler air filters in. Thursday afternoon will be 5° – 10° below average. It’s a short lived cool down as temps quickly rebound to above average by the weekend.

Models disagree greatly on early next week. One has another storm moving toward the state, while the other has it moving far north into Montana and Wyoming. We’ll see if the models can come into agreement through the rest of the week, but at the very least expect winds to return some for early next week.

Red Flag Warnings as of 11:00am Wednesday.
