Time for the five things you need to know before you go this morning.
5. Bad news for some city workers in Albuquerque, they’re getting furloughed. Security officers are being told to take two unpaid days off this year. That was in their old contract and they haven’t been able to agree on a new one with the city. The issue could end up in arbitration.
4. This is the story every one is looking at on KRQE.com. The mother of a teen accused of killing another kid is now in jail herself. Loretta Villalobos got arrested yesterday. She’s charged with negligent child abuse resulting in death. Investigators say her son, Brandon killed a 12-year-old boy earlier this year.
3. Another UNM football player is in a lot of trouble this morning. SaQwan Edwards was arrested yesterday. He’s accused of raping another student along with two other men more than two weeks ago. Edwards is now suspended from the team so is running back Crusoe Gongbay.
2. Tonight is your last chance to tell the Department of Justice how you think APD should be reformed. Head to the Cesar Chavez Community Center from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to give your input. If you can’t make it, head to KRQE.com to find out how to write a letter to the justice department.
