Winds Continue This Afternoon

Aside from some lingering snow over the higher peaks of the Northern Mountains, showers will be wrapping up across northern New Mexico.

The high winds will continue, especially across eastern New Mexico, throughout the afternoon. Wind advisories are in place for areas just east of the central mountain chain, extending into east central New Mexico. Those wind advisories expire at 8:00 pm. Winds will be coming down through the evening and overnight.

Friday will feature less wind, but breezy conditions will still persist across much of the state. Another weak storm will be passing farther north through Colorado. Spot snow will be possible over the northern high terrain, but little to no additional accumulation is expected with this storm.

The winds finally relax for Saturday as a weak ridge builds into the state. More sunshine and warming temps will be the trend through Sunday. However, winds will start to pick back up across the east on Sunday as a westerly flow sets up. Winds will continue to be an issue early next week as storms pass to the north. Combined with warm temperatures and dry conditions, fire weather will be a concern as we move into April.

Wind Advisories as of noon on Thursday set to expire at 8:00 pm.
