Wind and Snow Move In

The storm that brought showers to southern New Mexico is exiting, but another storm is already moving in.

Ahead of this storm, winds will ramp up across western New Mexico this afternoon. Then showers move into the Four Corners and Northern Mountains tonight through early Thursday. Snow levels will be above 9000′, but some significant accumulation is expected. Winter Storm Warnings are up for the San Juans of Colorado. Winter Weather Advisories have been posted for the San Juans of New Mexico.┬áThe winds will also work eastward through the state tonight and into Thursday as the storm passes north.

The storm quickly clears Thursday afternoon, but another weak storm follows on it’s heels. This will keep the winds up across the state Thursday and Friday. It will also lead to additional light snowfall over the Northern Mountains through at least Friday morning.

Everything clears out Friday afternoon and the winds relax Friday night. A ridge of high pressure will work in for the weekend leading to more sunshine, less wind, and warmer temperatures.
