Two Storms Move InMarch 14th, 2014 at 12:32 pm by John Smith under Weather
We have a pair of storms that will affect the state over the next couple of days. Today’s storm is lacking moisture. The Northern Mountains will be able to pick up a few inches of snow, mainly at the higher peaks above 9000′. Lower elevations, including Albuquerque, could see a passing shower or thunderstorm this afternoon. This storm quickly moves out tonight.
The next storm arrives Saturday. This will will drop out of Colorado and slide down eastern New Mexico. The best chances of showers will be across the Northern Mountains and east. However, this storm also is starved for moisture. The bigger impact will be winds. Gusts in Albuquerque could reach 50 mph Saturday afternoon. Gusts across the rest of the state will be in the 40 – 50 mph range as well.
After a windy start Sunday, the storm will exit. Expect less wind for Sunday afternoon. Temperatures will also start to trend warmer into early next week.
