Exciting Week Ahead…March 10th, 2014 at 8:47 pm by Mark Ronchetti under Weather
After a mild day today things will change a bit over the next few days. A storm system will pass to our north on Tuesday. This will drive a strong cold front through the east late Tuesday. That front will drop temps well below average over eastern NM on Wednesday. Winds will also be a major factor both Tuesday and Wednesday.
Herein the metro area look for mild temps (highs in the mid 60′s) on Tuesday with wind gusts up to 35 mph. Late in the evening the cold front will move in from the east. As the cold air squeezes through the canyon we could well see guts over 40 mph. This will lead to a cool day on Wednesday with highs struggling to get into the 50′s. Any snow we see will be concentrated along the east slopes of the northern mtns.
The real excitement gets going on Thursday and Friday when a storm rolls through the state from Arizona. This system looks like its got some punch. The northern and western mountains may well pick up some significant snow. Here is where the storm will be located early Friday. Stay tuned it could get interesting at the end of the work week.
