Round #2 On The Way…February 27th, 2014 at 10:46 pm by Mark Ronchetti under Weather
Our first of a one two storm punch is exiting the state now. However, not without some excitement. Wind gusts have topped 60mph as the storm worked through in the Albuquerque metro area. A high wind warning is in effect for the east on Friday where gusts could hit 70 mph. Here in the metro winds will come down to 15-25 mph with partly cloudy skies.
By Saturday a stronger and far wetter storm will work through. It will spread valley rain and mountain snow across the northern 2/3rds of the state. The metro areas best shot for rain will be Saturday PM through Sunday AM. Most precip will fall as rain below 7,000′. Although a winter mix early Sunday can’t be ruled out.
The mountains of the north look poised to pick up 12″+ of snow through Sunday night. This would be huge for the resorts who are in desperate need of snow. Here is a look at the liquid precip totals as the models see it through Sunday. Impressive.
