Time for the five things you need to know before you go:
5. At a Department of Energy briefing later today we should learn more about radiation leaking into the air at The Waste Isolation Power Plant near Carlsbad. Sensors have found trace amounts of Plutonium and Americium, the highest ever around the site, but not enough to be considered dangerous.
4. The disturbing story of a 12-year-old boy from Albuqueqrue found dead is making headlines. Investigators say his 15-year-old friend killed him during a sleepover. Valencia county sheriff’s deputies say Brandon Villalobos admitted he hit Alex Madrid on the head. Deputies found Madrid’s body in a field. Villalobos is now at a juvenile detention center.
3. They’ve done it, both the house and senate passed a budget, now it’s waiting for Governor Susana Martinez’s signature. The budget’s worth $6.2 billion and has $300 million of new money in it.
2. We’re not out of the woods when it comes to fire danger just yet. The Crawford Fire in Belen is now 75 percent contained and has already burned a camper and other things.
1. Today you can expect sunny skies with a high near 49 degrees. Winds will be breezy with wind from 15 to 25 mph. Tonight it’ll be mostly clear,around 26. Winds will come in from the northwest at 10 to 15 mph.
