Cool Down For A Day…February 19th, 2014 at 8:39 pm by Mark Ronchetti under Weather
A powerful cold front will drop down into New Mexico overnight leading to cooler temps for Thursday and a ton of wind. Winds are already ripping across the area tonight. Santa Fe has had a peak gust over 50mph. The Albuquerque area has topped out near 40 mph. Winds will continue to howl through the morning hours with gusts over 50 mph possible. Winds will be even stronger over eastern NM where gusts could top 60. If there is going to be any snow it will be limited to the far northern reaches of Taos, Colfax and Rio Arriba counties. Snow amounts will be no greater than a couple inches.
During the day on Thursday winds will slowly back off. Highs will top out in the high 40′s with mostly sunny skies. By Friday a westerly flow will take over once again leading to milder temps and partly cloudy skies. With the exception of a couple weak cold fronts heading through the NE it will be a quiet weather weekend as well.
