Here Comes The Wind & Fire Danger…February 17th, 2014 at 5:14 pm by Mark Ronchetti under Weather
Our seemingly endless stretch of dry weather and gusty winds will continue for the next 10 days at least. There is a storm system that will pass to our north late Wednesday into Thursday. This storm will yet again crank up winds to 50+mph at a gust over eastern NM. On the back side of the storm we will cool down statewide by about 15°+. However, that cool down will only last a couple days. Temps will continue upward by the weekend.
Looking beyond this week the news really doesn’t get much better. The long range outlooks are all pointing to a dry regime continuing. Below is the 8-14 day outlook for NM. It shows well below average precipitation and well above average temps. We are already seeing more fires breaking out. Expect that to continue if we don’t get some relief on the rain & snow front.
