Holiday pushes back trash, recycling collections

The city of Albuquerque’s Solid Waste Department is taking New Year’s Day off, and that delays regular collections by a day for the rest of the week.

The department released this information on its plans:

  • Residential customers who are regularly serviced on Wednesdays should place their trash and recyclables at the curb on Thursday, January 2, 2014.
  • Residential customers who are regularly serviced on Thursdays should place their trash and recyclables at the curb on Friday, January 3, 2014.
  • Residential customers who are regularly serviced on Fridays should place their trash and recyclables at the curb on Saturday, January 4, 2014.

All three convenience centers, Montessa Park, Don Reservoir and Eagle Rock will be closed on New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1, 2014 and will reopen in full operation from 8am to 5pm on Thursday, January 2, 2014.

  • Eagle Rock Convenience Center is located at 6301 Eagle Rock Rd. NE
  • Don Reservoir Convenience Center is located at 114th St. and Central SW
  • Montessa Park Convenience Center is located at 3512 Los Picaros Rd. SW

The main administrative office at 4600 Edith NE and the Cerro Colorado Landfill will also be closed for the holiday and will reopen Thursday, January 2, 2014.
