Here are the 5 things you need to know before you go this last Friday morning of 2013.

5) Wrapping paper and tissue paper are not recyclable, according to the City of Albuquerque. The City’s tree recycling program begins January 2nd.

4) The effort to require background checks at New Mexico gun shows is being reloaded for the next legislative session.

3) The President signed the federal budget which eases some automatic spending cuts. 1% raise for the military is being met with criticism, while military civilian employees are getting the same 1% raise, their first in 4 years

2) Thousands of New Mexicans and unemployed people around the United States will lose their unemployment benefits at the end of the month.

1) Today you can expect to be sunny and warmer with a high near 51 degrees.  North winds about 5 mph becoming calm  in the afternoon.  Tonight skis will be clear with a low around 23 degrees and calm wind.
