Friday the Lincoln National Forest started selling tree permits at the forest supervisor’s office in Alamagordo, NM and district ranger offices in Ruidoso, Cloudcroft and Carlsbad.

You can buy one $5 permit per household.

A limited number of permits are available on a first come first served basis.

The permit allows people to cut from most areas within the Lincoln National Forest.
