Time for the five things you need to know before you go.
5.) Pojoaque Valley School Board member Jon Paul Romero is accused of swiping Iggy, the iguana statue, from a bar at Buffalo Thunder Resort last month. Security cameras captured Romero picking up and walking out with the four-foot bronze sculpture. Detectives looked thru the front door and spotted the iguana sculpture in the living room. Iggy’s worth five thousand dollars, so it’s a felony. But Romero basically got a slap on the wrist for lifting Iggy.
4.) The Toys for Tots officially kicks off today. The U.S Marines are holding a toy drive for you to donate toys that they’ll be giving to needy families this Christmas. The toy drive starts at 10 this morning and runs until 4 in the afternoon. Bring an unwrapped toy to 7400 Indian School Dr. in northeast Albuquerque.
3.) We go off daylight saving time Sunday. Be sure to turn your clocks back one hour.
2.) One in five New Mexican’s are on food stamps and they’re about have less money to spend on food because the stimulus bill is expiring. This will mean $38 less per month to eat on and a lot of people aren’t even aware this cut is happening. Local food banks that already have lines out the door are bracing for when this hits home.
