Time for the five things you need to know before you go…

5.) Parents, you could soon have a way to check up on how your kids are doing at school. Governor Martinez wants the legislature to give schools an extra million bucks to set up websites so parents can keep up with grades, homework and more.

4.) Testing has finally started on getting rid of contaminated groundwater at Kirtland Air Force Base. If this works, it’ll clean up millions of gallons of jet fuel that was discovered back in 1999.

3.) Bad news if you get food stamps. Starting tomorrow, families will get 36 fewer dollars in food stamps every month because a boost from the 2009 stimulus plan officially ran out.

2.) We hope you’ll have a safe and happy Halloween tonight. Remember to look out for lots of kids and parents. Make sure the kids are lit up and can see through their masks. There’s trick or treating at Coronado Center too and at a lot of churches around town.

1.) Today you’ll see sunny skies, with a high near 58. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Then tonight, you can expect it to be clear, with a low around 34. Northwest wind 5 to 15 mph.

  1. Philip Boese says:

Please tell Senators Udall and Heinrich you want them to vote NO on the move to authorize Fast Track authority for Obama to enact the “free trade” deal called Trans Pacific Partnership. It is a job killing, freedoms losing give away to trans national corporations. It is really bad; that’s why they’re trying to do it in secret.
