Storms for the weekend then…

DOPPLERFRIDAY

There’s enough moisture in place for New Mexico this weekend to spark  scattered storms.  They continue to pop-up around the state this afternoon with the mountains seeing the most action so far.   We’ll continue with the chance for more storms on Sunday, but after that our chances for rain really go down by the next week.  Western New Mexico, the Northern Mountains, and Southern Colorado will likely pick up the most rain this weekend and these areas will have the best shot of picking up more rain into at least the middle of next week.

For the rest of New Mexico, a ridge of high pressure is going to strengthen again and regain control of our weather.  This will cut off our moisture supply and usher in much drier air.  So August remains on track to be a very disappointing month for rainfall.
