If you’re generous enough to share your green chile supply with family and friends in other states you better make sure you label the package right.
In California officials routinely inspect shipments to protect against harmful plant pests and disease. If your chile isn’t properly labeled it could be subject to delays if inspectors have to open the package.
Officials recommend clearly putting on the label “Pungent capsicum peppers — origin New Mexico.”
They say that simple step goes a long way.
