More chances for scattered storms before…..

After the unbelievable storm on Friday things were a lot quieter on Saturday for much of the state.   The atmosphere likely lost some of its juice after producing strong storms Thursday and Friday night in Santa Fe and Albuquerque.  Officially at the Sunport we picked up 1.36″ of rain.  That was a record rainfall for July 26th in Albuquerque.  It shattered our old record rainfall of 0.85″ that fell on that day back in 1939.

The chance for more scattered storms and periods of heavy rain continue for your Sunday.  It looks like the activity will shift to Eastern New Mexico as we end the weekend.  By Monday there could be a few stray, pop-up storms.  But, drier air is going to be pushed back into the state by westerly winds.  That will heat things up for the Southeast where they’ll climb back to triple digit heat.  While the Metro will reach the low to mid 90s for highs for the beginning and middle of the upcoming week.
