Get your Route 66 kicks in Nob HillJuly 20th, 2013 at 10:50 am by Bill Diven under Community Affairs
Nob Hill in Albuquerque will be hopping today and tonight as the Route 66 Summerfest 2013 occupies a busy strip of Central Avenue.
Organizers are closing off a one-mile section of old Route 66 on Central between Girard and Washington.
A number of bands will be performing on two different stages, one at Central and Girard, the other at Central and Washington.
Shoppers can make their way to nearby businesses while enjoying the music.
Summerfest runs from 2 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. with additional events beginning at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
Details can be found on the Historic Nob Hill website.
ABQ Ride buses that normally use that stretch of Central Avenue will be detouring and using temporary stops.
Still to come are the Downtown Summerfest on Aug. 3 and the Westside Summerfest on Aug. 24. Information on those events is on the city’s Cultural Services Department website.
