Flash Flood Concerns Remain High…July 20th, 2013 at 3:58 pm by chrisgilson under Weather
Storms once again have been popping up around Central and Western New Mexico on Saturday. Much of the Rio Grande Valley and Northwestern New Mexico remain under a flash flood watch through Sunday night. That’s because storm movement will be rather slow moving from the north to the south and west over the next 24-36 hours. Plus, with many areas already picking up large amounts of rain in recent days, it won’t take long for rain to accumulate.
Storm chances will trend downward next week as an area of high pressure builds over the state. But, the good news is this high won’t completely dry us out. There’s still enough moisture in place that we could still get some storms popping-up during the afternoon and evening hours. But, the storms won’t be as widespread.
