More Storms On The Way…July 18th, 2013 at 8:36 pm by Mark Ronchetti under Weather
As strange as it may sound an exiting storm system could actually lead to more thunderstorms across the state over the next couple of days. The low-pressure system that brought so much rain across southern New Mexico is now tracking well out of the state and behind it we will see considerable moisture sticking around. Along with that moisture we will also have warm temperatures and the atmosphere will set up much better for widespread storms across the northern portion of New Mexico.
The Albuquerque metro area will be favored for thunderstorms over the next couple of days. Our chance for storms Friday and Saturday afternoon will peaked around 50%. As we head out of the weekend and into next week we may well get a brief break before return to the stormy pattern by the end of next week. Speaking of the end of next week, we’re looking at more of the classic monsoon set up which could bring afternoon thunderstorms to the western half to two thirds of the state.
