Walmart held a grand opening for its new neighborhood market today, and Gordmans is opening a department store in Albuquerque tomorrow.

The new Walmart is a much smaller version of the traditional Walmarts and sells mostly groceries. It’s located in the Pavilions at San Mateo and Cutler, will be open 24 hours a day 7 days a week, and the store will employ 95 people.

As part of their grand opening Walmart will also present $8,000 in grants to local community groups.

Gordmans, a Nebraska based retailer, offers everything from apparel to home decor and accessories.

The new store is located in Cottonwood Commons near Alameda Boulevard NW and Ellison Drive and will employ about 100 people.

Gordmans plans to open up a second location at Coronado Center in September and will hire about 100 more workers.
