Could This Really Happen?July 12th, 2013 at 9:41 pm by Mark Ronchetti under Weather
To say our weather is going to be interesting is an understatement over the next 4 to 5 days. The monsoon flow will help to provide the western portion of the state with showers on Saturday. Albuquerque will be right on the edge of this so a chance for isolated storms will be possible. Things really start to ramp up on Sunday. A storm system will back into New Mexico from the East. This type of storm pattern is very rare any time of year but if it’s gonna happen it’s most likely happen during the summer.
That storm will combine with monsoonal moisture over the state to give us a very good chance for soaking rains beginning Sunday the lasting much of next week. Models currently indicate we could see an inch plus of rain state wide and some areas could pick up over 3 inches. However we caution that you watch this forecast carefully because patterns like this are extremely rare we’ll see if it actually plays out.
