Storm Chances ContinueJuly 10th, 2013 at 3:13 pm by John Smith under Weather
The nice pattern New Mexico has been in since the start of the month will continue through at least the next week or so! Expect more storms to develop over the higher terrain Thursday and Friday. With high pressure still overhead, storms will still move slowly, so flash flooding will remain a concern in the afternoon and evening.
Over the weekend, the high shifts east allowing a moisture tap to open from the south. The west will be favored for storms as high pressure will still lock out most of the moisture east. Temps will remain on the hot side farther east as well.
Early next week, a weather disturbance will ride the moisture tap into the state. This will lead to more widespread shower and storm activity across much more of the state. This pattern will hold in place through at least the middle of next week!
