More Storms? Yes!July 8th, 2013 at 10:32 pm by Mark Ronchetti under Weather
For the first time in a long time we had flooding problems in the Albuquerque metro area tonight. A slow-moving complex of storms sent over the South Valley dumping up to 2 inches of rain. The slow-moving storms will be a threat again for Tuesday across the area. We are sitting directly underneath high-pressure and that is allowing storms to move very slowly. And the slower the storms move the more time they have to dump heavy rain.
There was also significant flooding in Santa Fe is well. On Tuesday slow-moving storms will develop again in the afternoon. Highs will talk out in the 90s with most ones favoring the higher terrain. However some storms could well rolling to the valleys once forming over the mountains.
We will stay fairly active weather wise throughout the rest of the work week with afternoon crops of thunderstorms. Things can get really interesting this weekend as the high-pressure shifts east opening the door for more moisture. On top of that we could roll the weather disturbance in and it could really ramp up the storms.
