The Heat is On!June 24th, 2013 at 5:04 pm by John Smith under Weather
It’s going to be a hot week across New Mexico. As high pressure moves over the state, temps will soar to near 100° in the metro by Thursday. Meanwhile areas to the south and east will see triple digit heat all week long. If you have to be outside, please remember to drink lots of water and take breaks as frequently as possible!
By the weekend, that ridge of high pressure will shift to the west. This will allow some low level moisture to seep into the east. A few spot storms will be possible, but more importantly, the increased moisture will help bring the heat down.
By early next week, models are indicating a cold front to move into the state. One model wants to bring decent shower chances to much of the state for the start of next week, while the other shows less storm chances with the higher elevation communities favored.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on the storm chances for early next week. In the meantime, try to stay cool!
