One Crazy Day…June 19th, 2013 at 9:54 pm by Mark Ronchetti under Weather
It has been a wild weather day across New Mexico. A supercell thunderstorm spawned a likely tornado and baseball sized hail just north of Tucumcari around 3:30 this afternoon.
The storm raced off to the east at 20 miles an hour. It broke tree branches as well.
That wasn’t the only severe storm we had other storms hit central and southeastern New Mexico as well.
Meanwhile here the Albuquerque metro area we saw a very warm day with a high of 98° and mostly sunny skies. We will see a similar day coming up for Thursday with sunny skies as well and highs in the 90s.
By Friday a little more moisture creeps into the southern portion of the state. We could see a few more thunderstorms but nothing too widespread into the weekend. The chance of showers will stay mainly south and east. However we could see a spot storm in the Albuquerque metro area with highs in the low 90s
