Break from heat…

June 12th, 2013 at 10:39 pm by under Weather

We will finally get a break from the extreme heat across most of New Mexico on Thursday and Friday.  Moisture is beginning creep toward the state from the southeast to give us the chance of scattered afternoon thunderstorms Thursday afternoon and Friday afternoon as well. They won’t necessarily be widespread soaking rains but we will see the chance of showers expand especially over mountain sections and into the valley’s as well.

As far as the heat goes it will still remain warm with highs in the low 90s by Friday. But that is a vast improvement over the 101° we hit in Albuquerque on Tuesday. Most areas of Western New Mexico will still see hot temperatures as well but chances spot thunderstorm remains into the weekend.

The silver fire in southwestern New Mexico will continue to be a huge concern over the next few days gusty southerly winds could well push that fire right through the town of Kingston.   Crews will need to watch very carefully at the edge of town as a combination of dry fuels and gusty winds will make for difficult day.

Why aren’t we getting more news about the terrible smoke in Hurley and deming? Also why not a state wide ban on fireworks?
